About Us

My name is Darla Jones, and my husband Steve and I live in Youngsville, North Carolina, on a small homestead where we’ve spent over 25 years raising animals, growing food, and raising our five children. As an educational specialist, my passion has always been helping children reach their full potential. For the past 20 years, I have homeschooled our children, and this year I’m proudly graduating our last!

Along the way, I’ve encountered many of the challenges that can make learning difficult, some of which I know firsthand, having grown up with dyslexia. My own experiences, combined with my work as a teacher, fueled my determination to find the most effective ways to help struggling learners. That journey led me to the Equipping Minds® Cognitive Development Curriculum, a program that has transformed the way I approach learning and teaching.

In today’s world, many are asking: Are there tools that can help my struggling brain? Can we help children and adults better connect, engage, and thrive in their classrooms, workplaces, and homes? At Marbles and Minds, we answer that question every day through Equipping Minds® Cognitive Therapy.

Too often, people try accommodations, tutoring, medication, or a variety of therapies, but these are often done in isolation and only once or twice a week. While helpful, research shows the brain benefits most from cross-training multiple areas five to seven days a week, for up to 60 minutes a day, over three to six months. This approach helps create new neural pathways, strengthening physical, cognitive, behavioral, and relational skills together rather than separately.

By taking a holistic, multidisciplinary approach, we see remarkable growth in confidence, social skills, self-regulation, communication, memory, comprehension, processing, and relationships. This program works for ages 3 to 93, bringing hope, progress, and possibilities you may never have imagined.
