Darla is a true Godsend for us! She came to us at a time when we were very concerned about our daughters struggles with reading, sensory issues, attention span, extreme shyness, and unexplained cynophobia (fear of dogs). Since we began working with her, Clara has made clear improvements that even others have noticed. She is much more confident and less fearful in how she approaches life around her.  She speaks up, engages socially, and makes friends with ease. She takes on new skills with more seriousness and tenacity. She speaks to adults rather than hide behind me (mom). She is able to keep up with her grade level and gets schoolwork done in a reasonable time every day! While we still have some struggles, there are many marked improvements!

Darla has well trained dogs and has been coaching Clara to overcome her fear. As I write this, she is in a therapy session with Darla and Darla’s dog Zeus is lying next to them! 3 months ago, anxiety would have caused Clara to jump on top of the table in fear. She has even been able to pet several dogs at other homes since we started. No more meltdowns when they're around!

We began seeing Darla over a year ago and she has always been extremely patient, kind, friendly and professional. Her services are extremely reasonable and she is very flexible to work with. She is always willing to go the extra mile and makes sure all my concerns are addressed! She has even helped me strategize how to work with my other children at home when it comes to school work, not just Clara. Unlike most other therapy offices, getting established with her was very easy to do. We couldn't be more satisfied or grateful for what Darla has done for our family and I have high expectations of what we will be able to achieve with Clara going forward! Thanks so much Darla!

Darla has been more than an answer to prayer for this mom. We began therapy with Darla in 2023 from the beautiful aesthetic of her home office where care and diligence are clearly observable and inspiring! My son, David, was born with bilateral sensorineural hearing loss and wears cochlear implants, is diagnosed with ASD, and Mixed Receptive/Expressive language disorder, but is most encumbered by ADHD. The program Darla uses, has rewarded my son with confidence, improved cognition, and expressive language. After receiving Sound Therapy, David's word recognition score in noise boasts 67% compared to 15% the previous year!! David's IQ increased 6 points from his previous developmental evaluation. We are excited at the possibilities ahead, and I love that we have tangible results, and cognitive solutions.

Marbles & Minds Cognitive Solutions provides a refreshing and much needed opportunity for parents to access comprehensive strategies and science-based methods for increased development and performance for their child.  Darla brings professionalism, experience, and warmth to every interaction.

My husband and I were introduced to Marbles and Minds and Ms. Darla through hearing a success story from a friend. Her son finally began excelling in school after starting cognitive therapy with Ms. Darla.  Our oldest was currently struggling to put pieces together for reading. At first we weren't quite sure what to think of the approach….. since you just are playing games.  However, we knew our son would enjoy playing games over reading tutoring. We were shocked and surprised with how the exercises helped him, and how it increased his ability to read better. We went from not wanting to read, to reading not only his school, but every road sign and billboard we passed, and wanted to keep reading. The program helped clean out the cobwebs and gave him the confidence he needed to work on hard things in school!

I have used two EOG administrators and the same test for assessing my child, Hayes. Mrs. B and Mrs. K

April 2022: 5th Grade EOG assessment: Woodcock-Johnson with Mrs. B. showed that Hayes was behind and struggling with reading/decoding. The recommendation was to start the Wilson Reading program with Mrs. K. twice weekly until reassessment in May 2023.

May 2023: 6th-grade EOG assessment: Woodcock-Johnson with Mrs. B.  Hayes digressed in all areas. We stopped the Wilson Reading program in August 2023

August 2023 7th Grade started: I found Darla, who was giving a workshop at my daughter’s barn. I have to admit, I was desperate!! We began sessions with Darla 3 x a week shortly after.

May 2024: 7th Grade EOG assessment given by Mrs. K showed great improvements!! Hayes was closer than ever to Grade level! Mrs. B had retired, so Mrs. K gave the EOG assessment. She was very curious as to what major change had happened to help him. The only change that occurred was beginning sessions with Darla at Marbles and Minds.

November 11, 2024: Our last session with Darla

May 2025: 8th Grade EOG assessment given by Mrs. K. “Hayes continues to show positive progression.”

We were devastated in May of 2023!! My son and I both cried over the amount of time and effort that was given to reading tutoring.  While tutoring could be what some students need, it became apparent that my child didn’t need more reading, he needed help untangling his brain so he could start excelling. I believe that through the program Darla uses at  Marbles and Minds, she was able to train his brain to “turn on” and help with memory and processing issues. I am forever grateful  ~ E.B.

For the past 2 months my son and I have been working with Darla 3-4 days a week. His joy and focus have both increased, the Lord has been, as always, very timely in the help and guidance He has provided, for such a season as this, where he is moving quickly from being a boy to a young man. While he has always been a warm and expressive boy, who engages lovingly with all he meets, now he is showing more deliberateness in his speech, quickness to acknowledge when he is becoming unreasonable or lacking in self-control, as well as a deeper focus upon and retention of needful information. Overall, he has a sweet and vivacious personality, with an edge of unruliness that appeared easily from excitement or despair, now the propensities that were more unstable are diminishing noticeably.                 ~ Sona N.

Over the course of our homeschooling, my daughter has struggled in almost every area of academics, but I didn’t see any evidence of a learning disability, I just assumed she was not trying her best, which lead to frustrations for both of us. We were doing our best struggling through 9th grade when I learned about the curriculum Darla uses for training cognitive function. I was intrigued, so my daughter Ellie and I began working daily with Darla. The program was easy for Ellie and she loved working with Darla but I had my doubts about how much it would really help her when it came down to math and reading. We just got our EOG report for end of 10th grade and since last year, her score in math increased by 2 1/2 grade levels, her reading score went up 3 grade levels, and her written expression went from not quite 8th grade to off the charts!! She has never experienced growth to this degree.

I am truly amazed!!! This program has given my daughter the ability to thrive in school!! She works with more confidence now and I can’t thank Darla enough for investing her time and knowledge for the sake of Ellie.    ~ A thankful mama

I started working with Mrs. Jones after struggling my way through a semester in college. I suffered a concussion the previous summer and found myself unable to recall information as easily as I once could and was struggling to process information in auditory lectures. With my collage load, I was only able to meet 30 minutes a day on zoom. After just 30 hours working with her through her program, I had a renewed sense of confidence in my ability to succeed in my studies as my cognitive abilities were not only back to their regular functioning but felt even sharper. I highly recommend her program.  ~ Elizabeth A.
